Moving slowly into the 21st Century with blogging and digital cameras, I will endeavor to share my recent trip to France and Italy.

I love this photo I took of Monte Carlo and Monaco. Julio parked the car at a vista that all of the tourist use before decending down the winding road. The palace is located center back behind the rocky formation.

Here are some photos I took of the King's Chapel at the Blois Castle including the vaulted ceiling, altar and a carving of a scene after Christ's passion. I've included photo I took from the castle that shows a partial view of the village in Blois. I just read somewhere that this is the chapel that Joan of Arc came to to be blessed by the Bishop before she went into battle.

Seine River tour on Monday, June 25, 2006 and excellent pictures taken by Sumi with her disposable camera: Eiffel Tower on the right. The Museum D'Orsey upper left and moi having a glass of wine outside of a darling little restaurant near the Seine.

Sumi took this picture of me in front of the Pyramid when we visited the Louvre, and this one while we were walking near the Ile de la Cite on the Rue de la Harpe with Anne-Marie.
I took this picture of the Napoleon II bridge when we were walking by the Seine.

Saturday, June 24, 2006: Lunch in the tent at the Chamount castle. The chef prepared the meal to reflect the theme of the gardens. Sumi took this picture to the right. I'm drinking a non-alcoholic chilled nectar. It was very warm and humid this day, and this drink helped immensely. Sumi had given me the scarf I'm wearing. You soak it in water a few minutes. The cotton scarf contains little beads that absorb the water and expand, and it keeps you well cooled down. I highly recommend this scarf. Notice Christian is perusing the wine list. The SF Chronicle ran an article today called "Wine expert pours her heart out". The wine expert, Debbie Zachareas, "a wine instructor at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone was named by Bloomberg Markets one of the country's leading sommeliers". She was quoted as saying "I don't think people drink enough Vouvray, made from Chenin Blanc grapes from the Loire Valley in France. It's a really nice wine that goes so well with most foods." I don't recall the name of the wine we had that afternoon in the Loire Valley, but Christian chose it and it was superb. The picture at the top was also taken by Sumi. It shows the bath for the livestock at the Chamount castle.

The cheese, wine and fish for sale on the Rue Mouffetard. I used a French disposable camera to take these pictures.

More pictures taken by me of the Luxemborg Gardens: Unfortunately, the carrousel was closed, but at least one horse was showing. Additionally, we were too early for the puppet show. We sat on a bench eating the sandwiches Sumi had purchased at the Mouf, and watched some guys playing tennis. The image on the tree on the bottom photo is of a fairy, put there for the art festival. Too bad the lighting is poor. We were surprised when we came upon it.

More pictures of the Luxemborg Gardens:

Here are more pictures taken by Sumi of the Fesival des Jardins at the Chamount Castle on Saturday, June 24, 2006. On the top left Anne-Marie and Christian are playing with the spinning flowers. Sumi's used her disposable camera well. I love the shot of the three balloons, top right.
